Three Pages Attempt 12
I'm just waiting the next five minutes for Walgreens to open up so I can get my meds. Who waits until 10 AM to open up? I think someone is trying to hack me. Someone keeps on trying to email me who I keep labeling as spam and I got a "new" phone number from my "aid." I don't know if it's really her or not so I'll ask her the next time I see her. I got all my exercises done and I haven't played a game yet. I wish every day could be as productive as this, it's always a good day when I wake up before my alarm. Oh, and I ate only a little before bed so no drop today. Right now I'm chewing on some broccoli which will help me stay sane. Oh shoot, I have to leave early today to get some gas for my car. That always takes time and money out of me. I'm on the phone right now with Walgreens and, of course, someone else is ahead of me. How did that happen? I called the moment that they opened up. This is the worst part, waiting for the short staff to get my call. I could be here for half an hour and they still wouldn't answer. I've had bad times with my insurance and Walgreens and I've had to call the head of my insurance to get them to override something on their computer so I could get my meds. I just got through to them so that wasn't so bad. Now I just have to hope that they have the medicine I need. I'm not stupid enough to write out what my meds are online. Even if there isn't anyone reading this I don't want to take the risk.
I got through yesterday even with my handicap. I had a drop and it felt awful. Being prediabetic isn't fun. It feels like my body is constantly failing me. I think King describes it like a friend who's let you down. But that's all I want to talk about my health. Good, looks like Walgreens has the meds I need so I can pick them up today. Now I just need my pain meds and I'll be good for another week. At least my back will. Back pain is no fun. Also, I think the pain meds are messing with my libido. I...haven't been my "usual" self since taking these meds. I want to get my back strengthened so I don't have to take meds any more. And so I can enjoy life. It's not just my sex drive, it's hard to move when you're in pain.
Anyway, I guess I should do a chapter. But before that, I wrote something to God. I was listening to Psalms because I heard that there's a Psalm for every feeling you can have. So that's a hundred and fifty ways that you can feel first thing in the morning. Psalms 13 popped up and David asks God how long he has to wrestle with his own thoughts. After hearing this I wrote down "I can't accept your grace because I'm so mad at myself." If I go down, I really go down. There's not a mid point for me or a way for me to stop myself. If I want to flaggelate myself, I'll do it in full force. It's like going down a hill on a wagon, once you start it's almost impossible to stop. Just like Calvin and Hobbes except I'm not falling off a ledge while debating philosophy. Maybe I am falling off a legde.
Chapter nine: Desire for Change
We start with a close up of the alien looking disgusted. He points to Shuichi's severed head and asks what happened to him. Claire asks that the alien fix Shuichi but the alien refuses. "I've got a coin." She says. "You're collecting them, aren't you? These coins." Claire holds out the coin her sister gave her. We cut to the opening title. It shows Shuichi standing next to the vending machine in his human form. He looks to his left where the alien is sitting next to the machine reading a manga. I should mention that the alien is in human form. Shuichi narrates that no matter how they look at this alien, he looks like a normal human. As he narrates the Alien takes Shuichi's head and inspects him. Shuichi continues to narrate. "Claire's sister said that the alien was here...and that she was the one...who turned me into this...I can't deal with this right now!! There's way too much stuff going on. I need to worry about my head. This is a good way to ground the character. Despite what is happening he's overwhelmed and doesn't accept the strangeness that is going on. Instead, he helps the reader focus on what needs to happen, he needs to get his head on straight. I think this helps move the story along without getting into too much exposition. Nothing kills a story like exposition in the middle of a story where nothing is happening. Here, Shuichi needs to get his head back. The alien tells Claire that Shuichi is still alive and he can fix him. Claire demands that the alien fix Shuichi before she hands over the coin. "I need the coin to do that." The alien responds. Claire hands over the coin. She asks what the coins are. "They're...my comrades." Claire and Shuichi look confused. The alien explains that they'd be what people on Earth would call "aliens." The alien puts the coin in the vending machine and a small drink pops out. Claire asks what the drink is. I like how he explains this next part. "It's kinda hard to explain...I manipulates microbes at teh molecluar level...no...It's a potion with a bunch of faires inside that'll restore your health. I always like game references in other media, this is a reference to Zelda, I think. He hands the drink to the pair. Claire asks what Shuichi wants to do. The pair wonder if they can trust the alien. Shuichi narrates "I feel like the whole thing is skipping too many steps in logic here. But I don't have a choice right now..." We cut to an image of Shuichi's head decapitated. He's thinking about the reality of what's happening. I like this brief moment where the character tries to bring logic into what is happening right now. It's something I might be able to use. Shuichi agrees to drink the potion. The alien tells Shuichi that he's lucky, if he had transformed back into a human, he would have died. Shuichi is freaked out but he drinks the potion and sits down holding his head in place. The alien tells him that it will take about an hour for him to heal. Claire asks if she can get out of Shuichi, the alien says it should be fine. Claire emerges from Shuichi in her underwear. She glares at the alien who's staring at her. "What?" "Well, you just look a lot better than I expected." "Same to you...you look surprisingly decent yourself." Claire says that he would be a brain and tentacle monster. "Oh this body?" The alien asks. "This is jsut a body of the type most sutible for living on this planet. We don't have 'fixed' bodies." There's a LOT of aliens in Lovecraftian lore so this could be a good fit for my story. The alien explains that they have been traveling for a long time and bodies get in the way so they condensed their souls into these coins. He claims their spaceship crash landed on Earth and all his comrades were scattered all over. We cut to a close up of Shuichi and Claire who are surprised by this tale. Then we close up on the Alien who is blushing and staring at Claire's body. "What are you staring at?" "Well, I AM an alien...but tat the moment my body is completely that of a human male. And you have such a stimulating appearance...so my eyes are moving on instinct." Shuichi notices that Claire is in her underwear and blushes. The alien talks again "Sorry, would you mind if I touched-" Claire knees him in the groin. Shuichi jumps. "What are you doing Claire?! He's an alien!!" "Well...I just..." I like how Claire doesn't care what's happening. That Shuichi is somehow alive with his head cut off or that there are aliens in this world. No one touches her, except maybe Shuichi. I actually have a sexualized character so maybe I should add this to her. The alien gets up off the ground. "I'm not an evil alien, I just want to find my missing friends. Of course, it wouldn't be for free. I can give you a demonstration. Claire was it? Can I have one of your pubic hairs?" Seriously? This manga is neat but it puts sex into it in a weird way. "What?" Says Shuichi. "Haven't got any." Claire responds. "Wh-what?" "I lied." "Why would you lie about that?" Again, I like this back and forth between Claire and Shuichi. It shows how they react to things in different ways. "Can't it just be a normal hair from my head?" The alien looks disappointed. "...Sure, that works too. So can I have one?" Cut to a close up of the gun. We pull back to Claire forcing Shuichi to point the gun at the alien. The alien falls to his knees. "It was a joke! Just a joke! Don't shoot me! I just wanted to show you something." The alien looks up "You're still not convinced I'm an alien right? So I'll prove it to you." The alien stands up. Claire tells him she's not giving anything to a creep like him. The alien shows a long hair. "I'll just use this one I grabbed when you kicked me. Let me ask you something...do you like yourself? Or do you hate yourself?" Claire glares at him. "What kind of question is that? It's not like you get to pick who you are. So if you don't like who you end up being...you may as well just die." Claire looks sad as she says this. "I see. But you still have the DESIRE FOR CHANGE don't you?" The alien holds up the hair and puts it on his tongue. Gross but also kind of sexy at the same time. "Everyone's got it...wouldn't you love to become someone who could say they love who they are?" Shuichi and Claire watch as the alien swallows the hair. He begins to change. "Havent you ever wanted that? Haven't you ever wanted to become everything you've ever wished for... Another you?" The alien has transformed into a naked version of Claire. The real Claire glares at him. "Oh, that's IS good. I really do like this body. Maybe I'll use this one from now on."
Chapter 10 "Desire for Change"
This chapter is titled the same as the last one but with quotes around it. The alien talks while in Claire's naked form. "Wouldn't you like that? To be someone other than who you are now...I can give you change. I can give your life...some excitement. Just like...I gave him." Shuichi realizes that the alien was the one who made his body like this. This is a really interesting development. The idea that one can change anything about themselves is something everyone desires. This could fit into my story as well. What it makes me think of is how my protagonist seeks out the same thing, and now he would have a chance to do that. That's what makes this scene so electrifying is that desire manifested into a form. The sex appeal is just the icing on the cake, the demonstration is what really captures the imagination. The drive for the other characters is given form in front of them. I think that's what I need for my character, a goal given form. Not just told, but shown. Claire asks how Shuichi turned into a monster. The alien says that "monster" is a bit harsh. The medicine, just like what he just drank, is what changed him. "That's what HE wanted. It's his ideal body." The alien holds out the empty drink. "All this does is cause one's body to evolve into the one who drinks it truly desires." "How the hell does that even make sense? Do you seriously think I WANT to be like this?" Shuichi yells while still holding his head. "And I don't even remember drinking that..." The alien interupts. "But man, you sure have a strange way of thinking...to let someone else inside you...maybe it's just you compensating for how weak you are." Shuichi looks shocked. "Human thought processes really are beyond my understandings..." "It looks like you're behind everything that's going on." Here we see the dots connected for us. The reason for all this madness is laid out. We have the reason and the "why." Claire says that Shuichi doesn't remember how he turned into a monster. The alien guesses that someone got him to drink it. We flashback to a pic of Claire's sister. Claire asks the tough question "Could him having a body of a monster be harmful to him in any way?" "Nope. Not at all. Otehr being able to transform, he's the same as any other human. In fact, he'll probably be healthier and live longer than normal humans." Claire asks if the alien knows about the ghost monster, her sister. The alien says that he can't remember personal information that well. "Even though she's supposed to be helping you?" Claire looks at him suspiciously. This might indicate that the alien is hiding something. "Stop using that body." Claire says. "That's way too much personal information on display. The alien sighs and agrees even though he really liked the form. He changes back to his normal form and grabs Shuichi's head and gives it a shake. Shuichi looks terrified. "Alright, that should do it. You can transform back now." Shuich transforms into his human form and has a scar around his neck. He seems relieved to be alive and normal again. "Cla..." Claire embraces him, surprising Shuichi. In the next scene, the alien explains that his home world was so poluted that they had to leave. He asks that the two become collectors too which will help him repair the ship to take him home. He claims that as more coins are gathered, better things will happen. Things like you see in manga and anime. He says that there are some dangerous people collecting the coins and they might use the powers for evil. "Just think of it as a game. Like a streasure hunt to find the missing coins." Claire says they'll think about it. Claire and Shichi head home. Claire asks if Shuichi knows anything about her sister. Shuichi stops Claire and tells her that it's going to be more dangerous from now on. He's killed someone and almost been killed twice. Claire smiles and says things are going great for her. In fact, this is better than before her sister killed her parents. Claire says that the worst part is that no one would believer he r that her sister was a monster. That's another thing I might need, disbelief. Ordinary people don't believe in this kind of stuff. I think I'm getting a lot of stuff I can use for Lyra or Alex. Clair says her world has started to move again since she's met Shuichi. We cut to an image of her inside an unzipped Shuichi and she narrates that she's found a place to belong. "You're where I belong Shuichi." Shuichi thinks about what the alien said earlier. About how Shuichi has a strange way of thinking and how letting someone inside of him is a way to compensate for how weak he is. Claire says she's never been so excited before and that she won't use the extra coin her sister originall gave her because she has Shuichi to protect her. Shuichi thinks that Claire and him really are nothing like each other. Opposites attract? We cut to the next day where a lone woman is looking for coins in a field. She comes to a river where a man behind her demands to know what she is doing. She lies and says she's a climber. He says she's a liar and claims that this is his territory. We cut to a skull symbol spray painted onto a rock nearby. The man transforms and says she can either die here or help him collect coins. The woman lets energy flow off of her and she starts to fight him. That's something else I need: other people. Or more specifically, cannon fodder. I need to show how the events in my story are affecting and not affecting others. The world moves on despite how the characters move.
