I don't want to write this late in the day. I want to relax and read. Maybe I'm pushing myself too much. I feel bad just sitting around but I like doing nothing. Well, I didn't do nothing all day. I did some chores, got groceries. Putting away groceries is always a hassel. Not as bad as going to the store and meeting strangers but it's still bad. You would think that I would like organizing everything but I don't. Which is especially strange to me. Sheesh, I've been doing this to myself too much lately where I put off writing and reading and then just want to play games for the night. It's like having desert all the time, it makes it taste bad. You'd think I'd learn this lesson but I'm still beating myself up over wasting the day. I can't be too hard, I was very sleepy this morining and I know why, I ate too late at night. I can't afford to do that any more. I need to work if I'm going to get better at this writing job. Another incident I've noticed is that my joints pop a lot more lately. Is that a sign of getting old? I'm in my late thirties so I don't think I'm that old yet. I fear death a lot lately, there's so much tension in me that I can't always hold on. Sometimes I wonder if I really want this, do I want to be a writer? I have the luxury of being allowed to lounge until I die. I could wander in the wilderness like the Jews for forty years. I'd have a good life. Plenty of games to play, enough food to eat, maybe I'd even find a girl. But would I be happy? I don't know. I think I would be upset that RTF and KIY never saw the light. I honestly don't feel like writing right now, I'd rather read and play games. Maybe it's the lack of medicine in me. I could take another and be up all night. I don't have anything to do tomorrow so that would be fine. I don't want to mess up my schedule though. I think I'll try to write another chapter of Glepinir today and see if that fills up my pages. I was reading an interview with Brandon Sanderson who was talking about how AI can remove the uncomfortable parts of writing from a writer, which in turn makes him weaker. He didn't say "weaker" but I know that's what he kind of meant. A writer needs to learn how to push through these kind of things that make it hard to write and I agree with him, but my characters would not be here if not for Claude. Bouncing ideas off of something really helps me but it feels like a crutch. Maybe I should take another look at my charcters and do a summary of them.
Gleipnir Chapter 14: Teammate
Tadanori in monster form pauses as Shuichi holds him and Claire points the gun at him. He wonders "Who is that girl? Where did she come from?" He realizes that she has the same voice as when he fought Shuichi in mascot form. This is a true battle to the death. "Just give up." Shuichi asks. Claire flinches knowing that he's giving away the fact that he's a seperate being, not something controlled by Claire. The monster realizes that there are two of them. "Can I ask something?" He asks Claire. Claire says no. The monster comes to the conclusion that if she fires the gun she's aiming at him, she'll probably die too. "You know what will happen don't you?" He says. Claire keeps the gun pointed at him. The monster transforms back into a human and gives up. He does it so suddenly that Shuichi accidentally crushes his spine. Claire yells. They lay Tadanori on the ground. Shuichi is distraught but Claire tells him that Tadanori is an idiot for transforming back into a human so suddenly. Tadanori agrees as he wakes up. He asks them to kill him since he lost. Claire refuses. She says that he's the one who dragged them into his fight to the death match so now he has to pay them back for that. I don't know, this feels weak for Tadanori to be so stupid as to fight to the death with someone he just met. This is a character, not a person, like what Hemmingway said. Claire demands taht Tadanori hands over his phone, to which he says he doesn't have one. She doesn't believe him but he says they aren't manly. Tadanori asks if Claire could put on some clothes, she says that she took them off farther away. We pull back and see that someone is filming them through a phone. Claire demands that Tadanori give them his home address and home phone. Someone jumps into the conversation. "Yeah, do that. And tell me too why don't you" A large goblin comes out of the trees. He shows them that he has been recording them. Shuichi realizes that he didn't notice because he was upwind. The goblin says that they are his slaves now. He says he's going to have some fun with Claire. Tadanori thanks the monster and transforms again. "If I'm fighting someone like you, I can just kill you." He splits the goblin man in half. Claire laughs, looks like their problems habe been taken care of in one hit. Tadanori asks what happens now. Claire tells him he can help them look for coins. Claire takes the phone the goblin had while Shuichi checks on Tadanori. He sees the wound where he got shot earlier. Tadanori holds up his bandaged arm and thanks Shuichi. Shuichi explains that he can transform into a fursuit and Claire goes inside him to fight. Shuichi berates himself for not being able to do anything again. Tadanori asks if splitting up was her idea. Claire says "This idiot here said he'd be bait while I ran away." Shuichi looks shocked that she called him an idiot. She says his plan was foolish, what if he had died. Tadanori says that Shuichi is a true man for sacrificing himself for Claire. Tadanori says he'll team up with them. Claire looks through the phone and says they found their next target. We cut to another abandoned building where a few people have gathered in masks or disguises. A girl, likely in college, holds up a coin. "One hundred coins. That's how many the alien said we had to find to get the power we need." She says that they are weak by themselves but together they can look for coins. She says that the other collectors are more violent but they need to find the coins to put an end to this stupid game. She says that she wants to introduce them to their new teammate. Shuichi walks in.
Ok, I like how they are quickly adding new characters instead of going one by one. I think I can use this kind of emergency to introduce multiple people.
